| Introduction |
| Micaela Schmitz, Regional Development Officer, West Midlands |
As you may know by now, Gill Miller, our regional chair, passed away in mid December. Her memorial service is taking place on 8 January 2010, at 11.30am at Worcester Crematorium. Gill was a huge proponent of Making Music's activities and will be missed greatly by all who worked with her on the West Midlands Committee, and by music makers all around the West Midlands.
Gill was passionate about music making, being an avid pianist herself, and was particularly supportive of efforts for young people. This ebulletin includes lots of exciting music making opportunities that she helped develop, and includes help for choirs, young people and some funding on offer for all sorts of groups. ABCD has a very useful guide for repertoire suitable for small choirs, penned by David Lawrence in August 2003.
Sounditout's Choral Fusion programme resumes in January 2010. Four choirs will do a weekly ‘choir swap’ where they will learn each other’s songs. The first session was 13 December but there are more in session from January until the end of March in Birmingham.

| Small Grants 2010 |
| And the Media Trust | |
|
Making Music West Midlands is offering a small grant scheme in 2010-11. Applications will be due the first week in May 2010, and funding must be used by the end of 2011. These will be for small amounts (less than £300). New this time are two major requirements:
1) It must be a joint application between you and at least one other voluntary group. (It can include members and non-member groups as well as other art forms).
2) You must share what you are doing with your grant using digital technology.
The applications and conditions will be posted in mid to late January on our regional website. If you are interested please contact me on 01386 576582 or email me.
Because we are requiring the use of digital media, I thought it might be helpful for you to know that The Media Trust are rewarding communities for their inspirational use of digital media, through weekly 'Community Voices' awards of £500 along with a package of communications support around their initiatives. For information contact Jessica Medling or visit their website.
